108 Sun Salutations : New Years Day

Join Meg and Evie for a community ritual to move into the new year with reflection and intention.

The practice of 108 consecutive sun salutations is a yogic tradition commonly offered to observe with the changing of the seasons and the years. 108 is a sacred number in yogic philosophy that represents the paradoxical truth that the human experience is both unique and universal. We offer this practice primarily as a space to come together in community and move into a new 365-day cycle with clarity and consciousness.

This practice is a unique, shared experience designed for all levels with modifications offered.

Kirtan (by donation)

Kirtan is an ancient Indian practice of Bhakti/devotional yoga. It is a call & response form of chanting intended to powerfully renew & transform energy that helps us reconnect with the Divinity that resides within all of us.

Each chant revolves around repeating a particular mantra that often feature the names of the myriad gods and goddesses from the Hindu tradition. The key with mantra chanting is repetition and in this respect, Kirtan can be a very simple and powerful way to meditate, to help quiet the mind and actually change our psyche.

Join Shannah Green for our first Kirtan at Supta Yoga Nantucket Friday May 18th at 5:30pm.

System Update led by Evie-Marie O'Connor

A total system reboot. Similar to how we need to plug in our devices to charge the batteries and update the systems regularly to keep them running efficiently, our bodies and minds do well with a similar technique.

The intention of this workshop will be similar to plugging yourself in & hitting the 'update 'option your settings. All the internal Apps will be refreshed & functioning will resume by bringing awareness to the Chakra System. The chakra system is a map of the energy body; the inner layers of existence that are more subtle than physical matter (bones, muscles, fascia). In moving through the seven Chakras, we will explore how thoughts, energy, memories, pain, beliefs are all stored within the body. Outdated Information and systems will be updated to the represent the most current version of yourself.

This workshop will synthesize eastern and western psychology with restorative yoga and guided meditation. Please wear comfortable clothing.

Open to all levels. Sign up available in studio or through MindBody: $40

From Tadasana to Sirsasana with Lynne Begier

Yoga is often called Sacred Geometry and I often think of it as the most wonderful and complex mind/body puzzle that when we understand the pieces and the possibilities we can deepen the expression of even the simplest poses and gain greater insight to what it takes to "achieve" more complex poses.

Join Lynne for an an A to Z exploration of standing and other poses such as Tadasana (Mountain Pose) and Trikonasana (Triangle Pose) as we build strength and awareness to properly prepare the body for the Queen of Yoga Poses "Sirsasana" - also known as headstand. This pose has amazing benefits for the skin, spine and endocrine system beyond other poses.

If you are working with an injury or limitation that would prevent you from an inversion AND/OR bearing weight on the head please there will be plenty of clear options for you to explore also.

This workshop is open to all levels.

The Art of Alignment with Lynne Begier

In Yoga we often think as Alignment as something that we should do or that a pose should look a certain way to be picture perfect. But true alignment brings us closer to ourselves and the individual essence of each pose. Yoga poses are more than just a combination of strengthening and stretching exercises. Each pose has a vibration and that vibration creates immediate and long lasting change with dedicated practice.

Our goal is practitioners can be to simply relieve basic stress or tension in the mind and body, but we can take the practice further without necessarily making the poses harder or more intricate. As we spend time understanding each pose and it's various forms of alignment we can learn about our own bodies.

Join Lynne for a special workshop understanding the deeper practices of yoga that are possible through mindful and sensitive alignment. Each body is unique so we will address both universal principles and body specific. If you are working with a specific injury or issue this is great place to come and learn and we will address injuries as we practice. Workshop will include: Quiet Centering, Floor Based Full Body Warm Up and Conscious Dynamic Asanas

This workshop is open to all levels.

Sign up available through MindBody - $40
